Virginia focuses on tax planning and compliance for American expatriates and international persons/ families with US connections. She advises clients in Europe, Asia and the Middle East on cross-border transactions and structuring, US tax regularization in relation to previously unreported foreign income, and FATCA.

Virginia has been a member of the New York State Bar since 1984,and is admitted to the US Tax Court. She started her US tax practice overseas in 1986 and has worked abroad ever since acquiring decades of experience in international taxation. Whilst Virginia is adept at solving cross-border and multi-jurisdictional tax matters, she has acquired a unique specialty in analyzing the US tax consequences of transactions involving Sharia law, the use of UAE “foundations’’ and the use of trusts in US tax planning.

Virginia’s expert tax advice is solution focused. Having assisted Asian and Middle Eastern families for decades, she understands the particular issues of concern to these multi-national families and finds durable solutions for them.

Virginia has worked with international law and accounting firms, major banks and trust companies. Early in her career she worked with the top-tier New York law firm, Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

Virginia is a Bloomberg tax author and an internationally recognized tax blogger. Her Twitter Account @VLJeker has been listed in Forbes, Top 100 Must-Follow Tax Twitter Accounts and she is named by Bloomberg as a tax professional to follow on LinkedIn. 

Virginia has been quoted in the New York TimesNewsweek and the Wall Street Journal. She has a passion for US international tax and regularly speaks at conferences and on television, including CNN. She has published an array of scholarly works on US tax issues, some of which have been referenced by other attorneys or organizations to the US courts and US Congress.
